Shafton Grange is a refreshing change from the humdrum of everyday life. The guest house features five en-suite double bedrooms, each individually appointed with all the comforts you would expect from high-class country living. A large lounge with the original 1852 fireplace keeps the house warm and offers a welcoming and cosy escape to relax with a good book or a glass of wine.
A spacious veranda opens out from the lounge onto pristine lawns that overlook the swimming pool and lush kikuyu paddocks. The reception rooms are furnished with local antiques and family heirlooms. Our experienced cook prepares top-class meals using only local ingredients. Dinner and lunch are offered, but it is the breakfast that truly sets Shafton Grange apart.
The rooms at Shafton Grange are named after the Lipizzaner lines. As each line brings its own unique characteristics to the breed, so each room offers something different to the house. Each room is individually decorated and is in keeping with the décor and style of the house. Two rooms are situated in the Victorian Courtyard, with a further four rooms located upstairs in the main house.

★★★★★ Our stay was good for what we needed. We needed a place to stay before we swam the Midmar. However the Shafton Grange needs a lot maintenance. The house is also not very clean. We had no water in the bathrooms even when there was no loadshedding. The cold water was not very clean either. The host was very friendly and helpful.

I’ve stayed at many pet-friendly accomms in the karkloof and Dargle area with my 2 dogs. For the price, I anticipated something lovely. The mattress was brown and water stained. The linen old and worn. It was a night in... Read more
