‘Karibu’, the welcome sign says as you drive into the spacious grounds of the Samburu Game Lodge. Karibu means welcome in Swahili, and upon arriving at the lodge you will be face-to-face with rolling lawns, vibrant flowers, and soothing lounge areas. Collapse into an oversized chair in the tranquil lobby filled with the scent of spicy cedars, order a refreshing drink, let your eyes close, and realize amid the mists of the cultural surroundings that you never want to leave Samburu Game Lodge.
You will be able to find your every desire at the lodge, ranging from fantastic meals to comfortable accommodation and, not to mention, countless entertainment possibilities. Established in 1962, Samburu Game Lodge is the most historic location in the reserve and has been the premiere choice of many since the very start of safaris in Kenya.
Gazing out over the river, the rooms at Samburu Game Lodge are a place to unwind after a long day on a safari. Your journey will still continue from the surroundings of your room, as you can watch the crocodiles in the river and the elephants on the opposite bank from your window. Local artwork decorates each room: duom palm seeds hang on the walls, lampshades are fabricated from Kenyan tree leaves, and authentic Samburu stones form the smooth floor.
Samburu Game Lodge offers you two of the best locations in the Samburu Game Reserve to sip a drink while overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River; the Crocodile Bar and the Vulturine Bar. The Crocodile Bar is on the river level, and you can observe the crocodiles bathing just a few metres away. A special feature of this property is the evening feeding; watch as crocodiles crawl out of the river to fight over their food. The Vulturine Bar is perched among the trees and juts out over the river. Comfortable seats ring this bar, and you can hide from the sun in the afternoon or watch it set in the evening while sipping a Samburu Special, the lodge’s signature drink.
Samburu Game Lodge’s game drives are unforgettable. Dreams come alive as you experience what simply cannot be captured in pictures, film, or music: the magic of the true Kenya. Choose to embark on the morning game drives, the afternoon game drives, or both in an authentic Land Cruiser with an open roof, large windows, and your own expert driver.
Game drives can be dusty and Kenyan afternoons hot, so Samburu Game Lodge provides the perfect solution for you with its pool and Jacuzzi. Pass the afternoon in tandem with the setting sun while splashing in the spacious pool, soaking up the sun on the comfortable lounge chairs, or relaxing in the shade of the flowering trumpet vines.

★★★★★ Great Lodge, friendly peolple. Clean and nice swimming pool and good food. We booked via Safarinow and the package as mentioned on this website is not correct. You get fullboard but not including the drinks and laundry as mentioned. They say it s the fault of Safarinow.
